Episode 53: Sharan Dhaliwal Is Burning Her Roti

@sharandhaliwal_ doesn’t really enjoy eating burnt roti but she does love being the topic of discussion at her moms kitty parties.

She is the founder and editor-in-chief of Burnt Roti magazine based in the UK which focuses on mental and sexual health for young South Asians and on LGBTQ rights. She was on the list of global influential women for the @bbc100women in 2019.

We discuss how not doing well in school has nothing to do with intelligence, why she felt she had to prescribe to certain roles in order to fit in, and what ethnic cleansing through plastic surgery really means.

She opens up about her own issues with #depression and eating disorders , her family’s reaction to her coming out, the history of #homosexuality , and the power of #vulnerability

Sharon’s new book, Burning My Roti , comes out in 2022 and covers everything from body hair to the colonization of yoga. I hear that one sista.
